People’s Day at the BBX Royal Hobart Show means a packed program of events, activities and judging.
The Celebrity Ice Off occurs in the Homecrafts Pavilion at 10.00am, and at 11.00am the Celebrity Sawing event kicks off. Celebrities involved this year include Greens HCC aldermen Bill Harvey and Phil Cocker, MLC Craig Farrell, and Dave Noonan among others
At 10.45am an official opening will include a Welcome to Country and a Vice Regal opening on the Main Arena together with an honour guard made up of the Tasmanian Light Horse
An official Show lunch will be the venue for the announcement of the 2017 Legend of the Show. We’ll notify you on an embargoed basis of the winner later this morning. There is also a long service award to be announced at this lunch for Board member David Skinner who celebrates an incredible 70 years’ association with the Show.
At 1.30pm there is a commemoration of the Australian Cavalry charge at Beersheba 100 years ago this month in WW1, by the Tasmanian Light Horse Association. It was the last known cavalry charge in military history.
At 2.20pm the Grand Parade takes over the Arena, featuring everything from prize animals to vintage machinery.
