The Hobart Hurricanes coach Adam Griffith joins Dave to look at the squad and the season ahead

The Hurricanes have re-signed crowd favourite Clive Rose and also signed of young gun Nathan Ellis for the upcoming KFC BBL|09 season.

Much-loved spinner Rose has been part of the squad since KFC BBL|05, and through the years has built a healthy wicket haul and a strong fan following.

As a left arm orthodox bowler, Rose has been of increasing value to the squad collecting 18 wickets for the Hurricanes in the last four seasons with an economy rate of 7.92.

With a Big Bash League career best of 2/11, Rose brings much needed experience to the squad with his crafty and deceptive bowling intelligence, that compliments his ability as a crucial wicket taker.

“We are very happy to have Clive returning to the Hurricanes squad. He is a lively member of the team who is always driven to put on a show for our fans” said Cricket Tasmania General Manager of High Performance Simon Insley.

“His charismatic nature is reflected in ability as a left arm orthodox bowler and tail end batsman. We look forward to seeing what he has in place for us this season.”

The Hobart Hurricanes have also brought some fresh talent into the side with Nathan Ellis set to don the purple this season.

After making the move to Tasmania in 2017, Ellis, a 25-year-old pace bowler made his mark for the Tasmanian Tigers after debuting in the 2019/20 season.

He collected a very impressive 3/35 on debut for the Tigers and then 5/38 against NSW Blues in October.

His brilliant efforts in the Cricket Tasmania Premier League certainly hasn’t gone unnoticed after collecting an astounding 9/30 for his local club Lindisfarne in just 11.1 overs.

“We believe that Nathan will be a fantastic addition to the Hurricanes Squad. He has earned the right to a contract through performance at all levels of cricket in the past twelve months.” says Insley.

“He is a team player, with a great attitude and his high skill level has been demonstrated in his current season’s performance. His left arm spin skillset compliments our squad nicely.”

The paceman will be an excellent asset to the Hobart Hurricanes KFC BBL|09 list with his ability to find quick wickets early on and determination to face every challenge that comes his way.
